Antenatal care ideally begins in the preconceptional period. We advise all patients to have a preconceptional session with us so that the prenatal vitamins can be started at the right time, infections can be screened, genetic screening for thalassemia and various medical conditions like Diabetes and Hypertension be optimized prior to planning a pregnancy.
In couples with recurrent pregnancy losses or a bad obstetric history, we offer counseling sessions with a trained Geneticist preconceptionally so that the relevant factors be tested prior to pregnancy and appropriate measures taken which include prenatal and antenatal screening tests.
Each antenatal visit at our hospital is a complete session in itself which includes clinical checkup, sonological evaluation if required, dietary advice, physiotherapy and requisite immunization. The first visit is called the Booking visit and involves detailed history of previous illness, medications the woman is taking and prior surgeries.
We have a special HIGH RISK PREGNANCY clinic which runs parallel to our general obstetrics OPD on every Monday and Friday and focuses on high risk Obstetrics cases like:
Gestational diabetes, Pregnancy-induced hypertension, multifetal pregnancy, Bad Obstetric History, Rh Negative pregnancy , previous 2 or more CS, Elderly gravidas, and other medical and surgical diseases co-existing with pregnancy, IUGR babies and pregnancies with expected pretem delivery
Antenatal workshops at Bedi Hospital impart a wealth of knowledge to the would be- parents and give them the opportunity to get little doubts and questions solved which you feel embarrassed to ask or discuss. Every pregnancy is unique, and every parent has fears about childbirth and becoming a parent. Our antenatal workshops, conducted by a specialized team, address those worries. We encourage both partners to attend these classes.
These classes are usually conducted on weekends to ensure maximum attendance and it is our experience that women cope better with their labour and postpartum if they have attended these classes. Topics which are discussed are:

Painless delivery options are available round the clock for mothers who opt for the same in our prenatal sessions. They are counseled about epidural analgesia by our expert anaesthesioogists.
All pregnant women are given dietary advice on each antenatal visit. Individualized counseling session for inadequate weight gain, excessive weight gain, diabetes, twin gestation, anemia etc are arranged for tailormade diet plans

Focus is also given on the husbands role for moral support during labour. Mother and Mother-in law are also counseled regarding labour progression and their role in psychological support
For a detailed one to one discussion on birth techniques and measures to cope with it, we also offer individualized advanced counseling sessions on a prior appointment. Special sessions on feeding techniques, handling of baby, baby massaging and bathing are also taken prior to delivery so that the new mothers are not in a dilemma immediately after delivery.
Bedi Hospital has a well equipped labour room with in house Operation Theater for need of an emergency caesarean, if required. We have continous fetal monitoring equipment, even the latest wireless ones for complete ambulation during early labour. Epidural analgesia is available round the clock on patient demand. Our special birthing chairs provide you a comfortable position to endure labour pains and adequate pushing during second stage of delivery. Every delivery is attended by 2-3 senior obstetricians, one anaesthesiologist, 2-3 staff nurses specially trained for delivery and a senior neonatologist. Facilities for instrumental delivery are also available. Neonatal resuscitation unit is attached to the labour room for emergency resuscitation if required.
We also conduct post delivery sessions for the new moms to address problems pertaining to feeding, diet, posture, exercise, hair and skin care. Physiotherapy classes are conducted to ensure that the new mom gets back to shape soon.
